What is Coolhaus?
Coolhaus is Singapore’s 1st animal-free dairy ice cream made from the goodness of real dairy, without the cows. It is creamy and indulgent, 100% lactose free and cholesterol free and planet friendly. Our ice cream is dairy because it contains milk protein that is bioidentical to the whey protein you find in traditional milk. This milk protein is produced by microflora through fermentation which produces up to 97% less greenhouse gas emissions, uses up to 99% less water and up to 60% less non-renewable energy compared to conventional dairy.

Why does it taste so much like regular dairy ice cream?
Coolhaus is a dairy ice cream! The kinder milk protein in Coolhaus is bioidentical to the whey protein you find in traditional milk, just that it is made from microflora, not cows. And this allows Coolhaus ice cream to achieve the creaminess of regular dairy ice cream without the cow, or the lactose… or the cholesterol!
How is Coolhaus made?
Our kinder milk protein (bioidentical to cow’s!) is miraculously made by teaching microflora to create milk protein. Microflora are then fed with sugars, vitamins and minerals that convert it to milk protein through fermentation, a little like yoghurt or beer! That is then churned and combined with all the swirls and crunches we love to make our decadently delicious Coolhaus ice cream that is in every way creamy and dreamy, but much kinder to our bodies and the planet!
Is Coolhaus lactose free?
Yes, we are 100% Lactose Free and Cholesterol Free!
Is it dairy free?
No. While our milk protein is lactose free, it is not dairy free and products made with our protein can trigger a milk allergy.
Is it vegan?
Yes! Although technically vegan, we are made with real dairy, so it contains milk protein allergen!

Is it Halal?
No, Coolhaus is not yet Halal. We’re rolling up our sleeves to get there!
Does it contain any allergens?
All Coolhaus products contain whey protein allergen. Other allergens are dependent on the flavours.
It is produced in a factory where milk, gluten, soy, egg, tree nuts, nuts and peanuts products are handled.
Is it gluten free?
No, Coolhaus is not gluten free.
Is it plant based?
Not exactly. While we use microflora in the fermentation process, the protein produced is not a plant-protein, but a milk-protein. And this allows Coolhaus ice cream to achieve the creaminess of regular dairy ice cream without the cow, or the lactose… or the cholesterol!
Is it cell based?
No. The milk protein in Coolhaus is made using precision fermentation, the same process that is used in the food industry to make ingredients like vitamins, beer and probiotics! By utilizing microflora as miniature factories, we’ve figured out how to make these components of milk without cows.
What is microflora?
You could think of microflora as the agricultural animals of tomorrow. Except they’re not animals at all! If a fungus is “the new cow” for making dairy, then it’s a really, really small cow, with no body, mind, or nervous system.
